I went out on my mountain bike the other day for an early morning ride. It’s the best time for the freshest air, for great light, and also for seeing wildlife.
After cycling along paths, farm tracks and a section of old railway line, I turned onto a single-track country lane. As I sped along with the wind in my helmet, I suddenly had to jam on the brakes as an obese hedgehog waddled across the road.
Fearing for the poor critters life I did what had to be done. I picked the little guy up, walked across to the edge of the road, and put it back in a tree where it belonged.
Sometimes you’ve just got to give mother nature a helping hand.
