Snowboarding

...A period of living, snowboarding and DJing in the French Alps came to a rather abrupt end after a nasty snowboarding accident, at which time Scambler moved back to the UK. Later settling in London he embarked on a serious attempt to write and produce an album, this time combining his array of musical hardware with PCs and more sophisticated mixing and sequencing software.

The debut album, entitled “Event”, consisted of a varied range of music (not surprising considering Scambler’s wide spectrum of influences). The first track, “Wish”, was a laid back atmospheric intro with a hint of jazz trumpets and piano, a relaxing opening to an album that took the listener on a journey of vastly differing musical styles, yet at the same time flowed with a natural rhythm. Progressive and trance-like dance mixes, emotive chillout and moody ambient tracks followed, all with detailed attention to sound effects and atmosphere.

Anything goes” initially stood out as a favourite amongst the first few album listeners, and as a result it was forwarded to Computer Music magazine for review. In issue 34 of June 2001 the review stated: "a funky breakbeat feel abounds here, with plenty of vocal trickery and neat guitar licks. There's some really tight, neat scratch work combined with orchestral stabs. The rhythmic section stands head and shoulders above many of the entries we receive and demonstrates great imagination."

Following the Computer Music review “Anything goes” was launched on BT's GetOutThere website and the single went straight into the voter's charts at number one and the house charts at number six.

Anything goesIn early 2007 Scambler returned to the fold with a scorching remix of “Anything goes”. This was hotly followed by a series of inspired and uncompromisingly fresh tracks such as “Dharma”, “Getting’ freaky” and “Falling stars”.

Backed by a bespoke e-commerce site dedicated to the promotion of his original and unique music, the new refreshingly innovative Scambler tracks successfully encompass and merge his broad influences and touch upon new styles and qualities unheard on his debut album “Event”.
